[ Within the church, Koharu can be found intently studying a fine oil painting of an axolotl. ]

[He approaches from behind and tilts his head at the painting.]

What is this thing?

[ and that startles the hell out of her ]

[ PAUSE ]





..... O- oh! It's just. You. S- sorry. What did you say?

week 0, monday

[peripheries]

Hey.

[Kaworu is approaching! Wherever she might be! Enthusiastically he grabs her arm without even a moment's hesitation.]

I've decided we should be friends. Then I can have a girl as a friend for the first time.

[cupidsammo]

[ —?!?!?

Koharu makes an undignified squawk, but otherwise doesn't protest this. ]

Wh— What? Wait, you do? Really?

[peripheries]

Really!

I wouldn't lie about something like this.

w2; tuesday

[cupidsammo]

[ post goose because it's funny, Koharu can be found somewhere not far from the mansion grounds, sprawled out on her back. and she sounds... totally out of breath. ]

I thought... that was the end... I think my legs are gonna fall off.

[peripheries]

Are you alright Koharu-chan?

[Are they at the stage of friendship for that sort of address? Doubtful but here it goes.]

[cupidsammo]

[ Well, the good news is if she does happen to think anything of it, she doesn't show it. Instead, she exhales deeply, rolling her head to the side. ]

I'm—okay. I was almost a goner, though...

w1; saturday

[cupidsammo]

[ Before turning in for the night, Koharu is making a detour in the convenience store.

She probably does not need that large a bag of cookies, but here we are. ]

[peripheries]

[Running to catch up to her in order to walk by her side without a word. Almost like he's worried something might happen to her. Or relieved something didn't.]

[cupidsammo]

[ Well, fortunately nothing bursts from the store shelves to come at them or anything; it is an otherwise quiet, unassuming night. But Koharu does look up, surprised. ]

... Did you need something from me?

[ No one really has any other reason to come after her right now, she thinks. ]

Week 2, Thursday

[peripheries]

[Sitting in the clinic, looking ashen faced as he nervously twists his fingers in the fabric of his pants for a lack of anything better to do.]

[cupidsammo]

[ Eventually she does emerge from where she was being treated at, if a little slowly on her feet.

But when she sees someone there, waiting, she freezes. ]

Oh.

[peripheries]

[he stumbles to his feet, looking at her, hands outstretched but not touching.]

Koharu-!

w3; saturday

[cupidsammo]

[ After exiting the church and walking back through the neighborhood, Koharu eventually asks in a quiet, but concerned voice: ]

... You didn't actually get sick off of tasting anything, did you?

[peripheries]

No. But it tasted terrible. And it didn't end up being very useful.

[He really was trying to help this time.]

[cupidsammo]

Well, maybe not... But you did try!

[ Admittedly she wasn't following the logic, but he's being genuine here. ]

I think there's a lot of things we try that don't work out, usually. And I'm not very useful during these, either.

w4; saturday

[cupidsammo]

[ Where are you. Come here.

Koharu doesn't give him so much as a warning before she pulls Kaworu into a tight hug. ]

[peripheries]

[Oh. There's so many emotions. Shock. Fear. Gratitude. But mostly just... the quiet relief at having someone hug you when you didn't know how badly you wanted it.

He holds her back, burying his face in her shoulder.]

w5; friday

[cupidsammo]

[ When Koharu makes it back to the neighborhood, there's no other place for her to go but the mansion. It's hardly a brisk walk though, distracted by how often she keeps rubbing at her eyes. ]

[peripheries]

[Kaworu made it back a little before her but he sort of regrets it. The mansion is emptier than ever before and it just hurts.

He's sitting on one of the couches head resting on his intertwined hands. He's in that Shinji Chair pose. You know the one.]

Week 6, Sunday

[peripheries]

[Hey. You're getting a hug. Wherever you are.]

[cupidsammo]

[ Suddenly a hug! Koharu is caught a touch off guard, but after the initial blip of surprise– ]

Kaworu...?

[ –she does gently return the hug. ]
